Bonji Tamahagane Steel Katana
Bonji Tamahagane Steel Katana
This katana features Sanskrit characters representing all gods (Buddha and Kami), reflecting the rich syncretism of Japan's religious traditions—a harmonious fusion of Shinto and Buddhism developed over a millennia.
The blade is traditionally hand-forged from differentially hardened tamahagane steel, polished with traditional stones and powders to achieve an authentic and striking appearance.
Each fitting, including the guard, fuchi, and kashira, is crafted from cast iron and intricately carved with Sanskrit characters.
The tsuka is wrapped in genuine black same-gawa (rayskin), with a blue silk ito wrapping done tightly using hishigami (paper wedges) for superior geometry and grip.
The saya is finished in a natural varnish, complemented by black buffalo horn koiguchi, kurigata, and kojiri for a refined and elegant design.
