Kobuse Laminated Oni Tamahagane Steel Katana
Kobuse Laminated Oni Tamahagane Steel Katana
This katana blade is crafted using Kobuse lamination, with a Hazuya polish that highlights a visible hamon.
The tsuba features an Oni theme, crafted from copper with gold and silver plating.
The tsuka is wrapped in premium-quality ray skin (same), with hishigami (paper wedges) ensuring a tight and precise tsukamaki.
The saya is finished in a glossy black lacquer, featuring a horn koiguchi, kurigata, and kojiri, with a partial rattan wrap for added durability.
Kobuse lamination is a traditional Japanese sword-making technique involving combining two types of steel to balance the blade's strength, flexibility, and cutting ability.
Core Steel (Shingane) a softer, more flexible steel is used to form the inner core of the blade, and Outer Steel (Kawagane) a harder steel wrapped around the softer core.
The Shingane provides the blade with durability and helps it absorb shocks without breaking. and the Kawagane forms the cutting edge and outer layer, giving the blade its sharpness and ability to hold an edge.
