An iaito is a Japanese training sword designed for practicing drawing, forms, and controlled techniques. It has the appearance and handling characteristics of a katana, but the blade is blunt, making it better suited for iaido and Battōjutsu practice.
This iaito is inspired by the simple double-ring tsuba associated with Miyamoto Musashi. The blade is made from 1050 carbon steel and heat-treated for durability. Its lighter weight and balanced feel make it easier to handle during repeated practice and help with developing proper blade alignment.
The blade has a blunt edge for safer training. The sword uses full tang construction and is secured with two pegs. The tsuka is wrapped using hishigami during the tsukamaki process to help keep the wrap tight and even.
