Tomoe Motif Katana

This katana features a Tomoe motif throughout the fittings, including the tsuba, fuchi, and kashira. The Tomoe is a traditional Japanese symbol commonly associated with movement, balance, and protection.

The fittings are made from brass and decorated with the Tomoe crest. The saya is fully wrapped in rayskin, giving the sword a more traditional and distinctive appearance.

The blade is hand-forged from T10 high-carbon steel and differentially clay-tempered to create a visible hamon. It has a thicker profile suited for cutting practice and general martial arts use.

The tsuka is wrapped in genuine rayskin and finished with black leather or silk ito. Hishigami are used during the tsuka-maki process to help keep the wrap tight and even.

The Tomoe design may also be familiar to anime fans because similar markings appear in series such as Naruto, although the motif itself has a much older history in Japanese art and culture.
